Edgar Weissenberg was born in Peiskretscham / Pyskowice in Upper Silesia; he died at just over three years old.

He would probably have been buried in the Jewish cemetery at Pyskowice, but we did not have time to visit in June 2015; we hope to do so on a future trip.

Update: 7 January 2022

We did visit the cemetery on a later trip to Poland, but we didn’t find a grave for Edgar. The cemetery there is very overgrown, however, and many gravestones were unreadable. He might have been buried at Beuthen / Bytom cemetery, where Albert and Bettina are buried. We will probably never know.

We had been puzzled that there did not seem to be many children in the family. At this period, on my mother’s side, my great-grandmother had eleven boys (a football team, it was wryly noted) and two girls. We did not know at first that Clara and Hedel were Leopold’s sisters, much less that there had also been a little brother.

Alav ha-shalom, Edgar.
